What is tannin and how do you use Magic Paint antitannin?

Tannin is a staining spillage that can be due to wood treatments made over time or the type of wood itself.

Unfortunately it is not always possible to predict this.

Usually it happens in raw, untreated wood, going to apply any kind of paint, its humidity makes the tannin come out.

It also happens when you proceed with sanding and bring the surface to live wood.

When you run into the problem, there are three solutions:

  • Pass 1-2 coats of the “antitannin” product before or after the first coat of paint when you highlight the tannin (generally it has a yellowish colour or you tend to pink);
  • The second is to pass 1/2 coats of the liquid protection (only in this case pure, it should not be diluted) and only when it is well dry proceed with the application of the paint. (can also be given after the first coat of paint)
  • Accept the release of tannin and use antiquing waxes or the washing technique to antique and camouflage the tannin.
